HOMEOWNER RESOURCES
Understanding your property assessment.
Understand the difference between a Knox County property assessment and a market price, and find the official records for your home.

Assessment and market value answer different questions.
The county’s property assessment helps determine property taxes. A market analysis looks at what buyers may pay for a specific home in the current market. The two figures can differ because of timing, condition, improvements, and the properties used for comparison.
When we discuss your home’s value, I look beyond the number on a tax record. Recent comparable sales, the homes competing for attention, your home’s presentation, and buyer feedback help us build a pricing conversation grounded in your property.
Start with the details in your record.
Look up the address through the Knox County Property Assessor. Check that the listed improvements, square footage, and other property details match what you know about the home. Ask the Assessor’s office about a correction or the current appeal process if you find a discrepancy.
An online parcel map is a useful starting point for research. It does not replace a survey when exact boundaries matter.
